ADULT CONTENT ADVISORY: This grindhouse double feature simulation contains nudity and other content some viewers might find objectionable. The 2am Theater raises its ugly head to present an insomniac double feature dedicated to those who remember Manhattan's row of grindhouse palaces on 42nd Street between Times Square and 8th Avenue. (The whole damn block is now owned by Disney.) Our trip down the sleazy side of memory lane begins with coming attractions and a Betty Page bondage short,...

This is the original widescreen print, which is significantly sharper than the 4:3 print here at IA. According to IMDB this version also is in the public domain. Anyway, how could you not like a movie with dialog like this: "We balled and we balled and we balled, until he dropped dead." Besides, there are many happy endings, and it gives a whole new meaning to, "What's the buzz?" Directed by Denis Sanders. Released in 1973. (a.k.a. "Graveyard Tramps")

IMPORTANT NOTE: A much sharper and cleaner print in the original theatrical release format is now available here: https://archive.org/details/TheGiantGilaMonsterWidescreenQualityUpgrade Late '50s teen exploitation Texas style. It's all here - a prejudicial adult figure, a misunderstood young hero who sings and builds hot rods, and of course mediocre rock 'n' roll. The Gila Monster (heloderma suspectum) adds local color, and some might think comedy relief. Filmed in and around Cielo, Texas....

An okay circus melodrama starring June Travis. Directed by John H Auer. Released in 1937. Complete print (53 minute 2nd-release edit). NOTE: A nitrate print of the 66 minute original is stored at the UCLA Film & Television Archive. So there might be hope for the future release of a complete version with better video quality.

This is a simulation of a double feature program at a second-run movie house in the 1940s. The sleuthing begins with coming attractions and a cartoon, followed by the first feature, Sherlock Holmes in "Terror by Night." The intermission featurette is a true crime short, "Night Intruder," followed by the second feature, Charlie Chan in "Dark Alibi." (There are a few seats left in the balcony.) STREAMING SPECIAL NOTICE; I rederived the MPEG4 (MP4) file. It now...

The 2am Theater shamefully presents another insomniac double feature. This time it's all about the ladies (and some guys in gorilla suits). The sweaty safari begins with coming attractions and a cartoon, followed by the first feature, "Nabonga," with Julie London. The intermission featurette is chapter 2 of the serial "Perils of the Darkest Jungle" (a.k.a. "The Tiger Woman") with Linda Sterling. The second feature presentation is "Blonde Savage" with Gale...

John Carradine is an insane Nazi scientist and Veda Ann Borg is his zombie wife in an old house cluttered with the walking dead. Happily Mantan Moreland is on hand to make nonsense of all this. Actually it's a disguised remake of "King of the Zombies," which also features Mantan, and also is here at IA in the Feature Films Collection. Directed by Steve Sekely. Released in 1943. a.k.a. "The Corpse Vanished" (UK). Complete print NOTE: Mantan Moreland films here at IA:...

An early sound film adventure/melodrama in which a dirigible expedition to the South Pole is complecated by a love triangle. Surprisingly good production values and visual FX for a Tiffany production. However the audio FX are very primitive. Directed by Edward Sloman. Released in 1929. Complete print

A pre-code melodrama in which a country girl who has been naughty in wicked New York, returns home to put her life back in order. Big mistake, because her reputation as a party girl had preceded her. This version has better image quality than the copy that's already at IA which was a tape transfer, probably VHS. However this new upload comes from the same original source which has slightly muffled audio and some sprocket noise in a few scenes This is a seriocomic romantic adventure involving spies and a European refugee who is being deported from the US on the eve of World War 2. A muddled mystery with an equally confused cast that features Hal Skelly as one of the most obnoxious newspaper reporters in Hollywood's long history of portraying obnoxious newspaper reporters. Not in any way related to the radio series and comic book character The Shadow. Four minutes are missing including the title card and opening credits. Written and directed by Arthur Hoert. Released in 1933. CAST NOTES: Cesar Romero's film debut. Rose Hobart is here at IA in "East of Borneo."

This high-res version is sharper, cleaner and with better audio than the existing IA copies. It also is in the correct aspect ratio and has a much smaller download file. This is an official US Army Air Force feature-length training film that also was shown in civilian theaters in connection with war bond drives. It details the operations and goals of the 8th Air Force Bomber Command in 1944. Some scenes are dramatized, however only USAAF and RAF personnel appear in this film. Released in late...

A wartime British espionage mystery costarring James Mason and Joyce Howard with a good supporting cast. It isn't film noir. So If you're looking for stark drama and gritty realism, look elsewhere. However if an entertaining mystery that doesn't take itself too seriously will suffice, you won't be disappointed. An adaptation of Anthony Gilbert's novel. Directed by Carl Lamac (as Karel Lamac).
